7 pm: Oakton House and Gardens
This year marks the 175th anniversary of Oakton, a historical home in Marietta, Georgia. Oakton is the oldest continuously occupied residence in Marietta, Georgia.
Built in 1838, the original 325 acre site has been home to four families including the current owners, Will and Michelle Goodman. Major General Loring was headquartered at Oakton during the 1864 Battle of Kennesaw Mountain. The original barn, milk house, smoke house and well still stand on the remaining five acre property.
Will and Michelle have lovingly maintained property's boxwood parterre garden, kitchen garden as well as made some beautiful additions to the landscape. Today Oakton has been handsomely restored, inside and out.
Enjoy a tour, appetizers, and wine with your sisters. There may be an opportunity to purchase some herbs from the gardens of Oakton, so bring some extra cash!
